Question: How can I find local newspaper archives (not from Des Moines but from my birthplace Minneapolis, MN)?

Answer:

From our homepage http://library.drake.edu/ click on Find.  Next click on the Research Guides (Guide by Major) option. In the Research Guides list, scroll down and click on Journalism & Mass Communication. Use the News/Internet tab at the top and then the Online Newspapers to identify titles of newspapers in your local area.

Then, again, from our homepage http://library.drake.edu/ click on Find. Next click on the (Journals List) option. Search for the newpaper title in the journals search box, NOT THE SUPERSEARCH BOX. Or, for more specific results, use the Advanced Search, and change the Search Type from Contains to Begins with. (Do not include the, an or a at the beginning of the journal title.) The results (There may be more than one per title.) will tell you what years we own in print and online, if any.  For any online holdings there will be a link to the newspaper.  Hope this helps. Thank you.
